Fortnite swapped the Battle Bus for the Going Merry, the Straw Hat pirates’ first ship. If your kid recognized it before you did, you already know what this season is about.
That is the Treasure Hunters mini-season, and it is a One Piece season. My son is already playing it, and he is already asking for Luffy.
This one hits close to home. He read his way through 40 volumes of the One Piece manga after Naruto, and the One Piece card game is something we play together now. So Luffy in the item shop was always going to turn into a request. Here is what is free, what costs V-Bucks, when the rest of the crew arrives, and whether One Piece itself is a good fit for your kid.
The Short Answer
The season is free to play. Anyone with Fortnite gets the new pirate island, the Going Merry and the One Piece locations without paying anything. The characters cost V-Bucks. The battle pass is 800 V-Bucks and includes two One Piece characters, Nico Robin and Portgas D. Ace. Luffy, Nami and Usopp are sold separately in the item shop, and Luffy’s bundle alone is 1,800 V-Bucks. If your kid wants Luffy and the pass, a 2,800 V-Bucks card covers both.
One Piece itself is a 12+ show in our book, and there is more on that below.
What Treasure Hunters Is
Treasure Hunters is a short mini-season inside Fortnite Chapter 7. It started on November 1, 2026 and is expected to run into early December, the way these mini-seasons usually last about a month. The whole map has an anime and pirate makeover. A skull-shaped island adds One Piece places fans will recognize, including Foosha Village, where Luffy grew up, and Arlong Park, the fish-man hideout from the early East Blue story. Billboards around the map show anime versions of regular Fortnite characters.
It is not only One Piece. The same season brings Hatsune Miku in a pirate outfit, Kasane Teto, and the rappers A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert.
Most kids will notice the Straw Hats first.
What Costs V-Bucks
This is the part parents actually need.
Nothing here is required to play, but this is where the asking starts.
| Item | Where | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Battle pass (Nico Robin, Portgas D. Ace and more) | Battle pass | 800 V-Bucks |
| Luffy bundle | Item shop | 1,800 V-Bucks |
| Nami bundle | Item shop | 1,600 V-Bucks |
| One Piece Bundle (Luffy, Nami, Usopp) | Item shop | 4,000 V-Bucks |
| Zoro, Sanji and Chopper | Item shop from Nov 7 | Not announced yet |
| Buggy | Item shop from Nov 13 | Not announced yet |
Add it all up and the full crew runs to roughly 10,000 V-Bucks once Zoro, Sanji and Buggy arrive, based on what dataminers expect those bundles to cost. Epic had not confirmed those last prices when I wrote this.
One detail worth knowing: Robin and Ace are only in the battle pass, and the pass makes you play to unlock its rewards. Luffy and the rest are straight purchases.
When Zoro and Buggy Arrive
- November 1: Luffy, Nami and Usopp in the item shop. Robin and Ace in the battle pass.
- November 7: Zoro, Sanji and a Chopper sidekick.
- November 13: Buggy the Clown.
If your kid is a Zoro fan, that request is coming on November 7. Zoro is the one the One Piece community is already joking about, because he is famous for getting lost. The top comment under Epic’s own trailer is a player planning to land on the wrong side of the map as Zoro.
Is One Piece OK for My Kid?
Two separate questions are hiding here. Fortnite is rated T for Teen by the ESRB, and most parents have already made their call on that.
The new question is One Piece itself, because a lot of kids will meet Luffy in Fortnite and then ask for the show. We rate One Piece 12+. The opening East Blue saga is fine for plenty of 10- and 11-year-olds, but the full run gets heavier, and saying yes to episode 1 means saying yes to more than 1,100 episodes. Our One Piece age rating guide splits the anime, the manga and the Netflix live-action apart, and every rating we use is in the Anime Finder.
From Fortnite to the Manga
My son came to this season already knowing One Piece. For a lot of kids it will go the other way, and Fortnite will be where they meet Luffy. If Luffy in the item shop gets your kid curious, the first manga box set is the cleanest on-ramp. It covers East Blue and Baroque Works, volumes 1 to 23, which is the same early story the new map is built around.
The card game is the other way in, and it is the one we actually play together. The Luffy and Zoro starter decks are ready to play out of the box, and they put the same characters from the Fortnite shop on the table, without V-Bucks.
Our One Piece manga reading order lays out every arc and box set if the first one sticks.
Handling the Skin Requests
My son is asking for Luffy. We have not bought anything yet. A few things help when a collab season lands:
- Pick a number before the shop opens. The full crew costs about 10,000 V-Bucks, and the drops are spread over two weeks, so the asking comes in waves.
- Use a V-Bucks card instead of a saved credit card. A fixed amount on a card is easier to talk about than a running total.
- Ask which character, and why. If the answer is “Zoro, because of the manga”, that is a different conversation from “everyone has one”.
- Remember the free part. The map, the Going Merry and the One Piece locations cost nothing.

About These Recommendations
I’m George, a dad of two. My wife did most of the reading to our kids when they were little, and I did my share. She’s a therapist, and she helps pick the books that actually matter for their development. Some of what’s on this site we’ve read, watched or played as a family. Some I tried on my own first. The rest comes from research: reviews, episode guides, other parents online, and whatever the kids bring home from school.
